Jackson is a\u003cbr\u003eproud Woppaburra man who openly uses his platform to share\u003cbr\u003eand celebrate his culture in many ways. I’m incredibly grateful\u003cbr\u003eto Jackson for fitting me into his busy schedule just before\u003cbr\u003eheading out on tour, and for trusting me to create this portrait\u003cbr\u003eof him. From the beginning, he was open and generous with his\u003cbr\u003etime – from the sitting interview in his backyard to thoughtfully\u003cbr\u003eanswering all the questions I had. During our yarn, I wrote down\u003cbr\u003ea list of words that described him in that moment: passionate,\u003cbr\u003ecalm, proud, kind, real, and energetic. It was important for me\u003cbr\u003eto try and bring these qualities into the work, as I wanted the\u003cbr\u003eportrait to reflect how I experienced him in that moment. In High\u003cbr\u003eOctane, I wanted to capture both Jackson’s calm nature and the\u003cbr\u003estrong presence he carries on stage. The grey background, paired\u003cbr\u003ewith the black and white, reflects these two bold qualities. The\u003cbr\u003eline work surrounding him represents his culture – the energy he\u003cbr\u003eboth receives and gives back.
