One year after the QLD Path to Treaty Act was repealed on the
same date of the 2024 Eric Deeral Indigenous Youth Parliament,
I was a participant in the 2025 Eric Deeral Indigenous Youth
Parliament.
We had an election which decided who will be the youth premier
and youth leader of the opposition. I was elected youth leader
of the opposition and witnessed a full circle moment when the
youth premier’s speech answered the question. ‘If you were the
premier for a day, what would you do’. She wanted a treaty. We
need a treaty as a necessary part of reconciliation.
